As of 2022, the average annual income 543,500 in India is reportedly around 387,500. Among them, it has been revealed that the top 5.5% (960 students) of new IIT graduates have received an annual salary offer of 5 million (about 8.4 million yen) from companies that received unofficial job offers through placements. However, this was only the top 5%, with about 11% of students at the top and 40% in the next tier receiving offers worth as much as $1.6 million (about $2.7 million). Others have received annual offers ranging from draft 1 million (about 1.6 million yen) to draft 1.6 million (about 2.7 million yen). Although it is lower than the average annual income of 4.67 million yen in Japan according to a survey by the National Tax Agency, it shows how high the annual income of IIT students is compared with the average annual income in India.
